Vegetarian since
1987. On-again off-again vegan since then. I was vegan for
the first 8 years, then went freegan (no meat, just the
occasional dairy) for a couple of years, reverted to lacto-ovo
vegetarian for about five years. Currently vegan again since
2002. |
| Veg story |
The first time
I tried to go vegetarian was when I was about 8 years old
and I found out that the animals we eat don't actually die
of old age but that they are slaughtered. Apparently I thought
that we humans were scavengers and I was somehow ok with
that, but when I found out we were murderers I didn't want
to be any part of it. The next time I can remember deciding
to stop eating meat is when I was spending the summer on
my grandparents' small family farm and I found out that
the steak I was eating for dinner was actually my favorite
cow. My parents tell me I was always trying to go vegetarian,
even though I didn't really have a name for it, or know
any other vegetarians. It wasn't until I was in college
and saw "The Animals Film" that I actually succeeded
in becoming vegetarian, and staying vegetarian. |
| Why you should
go veg if you haven't already |
Because I will
give you head. And because you'll feel better about youself,
your body, your health, the environment, the animals and
the world around you. |
| Day job |
I'm currently
unemployed/under-employed/self-employed. I do odd jobs,
house cleaning, interior painting, whatever work I can get.
Most of the work I do that is important to me is unpaid.
I co-run unboundbooks.org,
a queer, trans, feminist, anarchist, fat-positive and vegan
distro. I also organize against war and racism and for queer
liberation and anarchism through groups such as the Chicagoland
Anarchist Network, Pomegranate Radical Health Collective
and the Queer and Trans Caucus. |

| Star Trek
or Star Wars |
I go both ways.
If it's classic Trek vs. the original Star Wars trilogy
then its close, but I'd have to say Star Wars because it
has robots! But for the new shit, Phantom Menace and Clone
Wars suck (in a bad way). I dig ST:TNG and DS9. Even Voyager
and Enterprise are way better than the crap Lucas is churning
out these days. |
| Guilty pleasure |
I love television!
If I had money I'd get cable. When I'm not reading, having
sex or smashing the state I'm watching tv. |
| Turn-ons |
Queer anarchists,
pro-sex feminists and non single-issue vegans. Reading anarchist
propaganda naked. Gas masks. Nonleather fetish gear. Rubber
floggers and anal beads. Hot sauce and spicy vegan food.
Sex toys bought at worker-owned collectively-run feminist
sex shops. Rubber gloves, condoms and dental dams because
safer sex is hot sex. Other trannies and genderqueers. Drag
kings and drag queens. People of all different shapes, sizes
and body types. Taking showers with friends and lovers.
Wet clothes clinging to skin. Public sex and exhibitionism.
Gin & tonic, Tequila shots and rum & generic cola
(because Coke kills trade unionists in Columbia). Mutual
masturbation. Hot d.i.y. alternative porn. |
| Turn-offs |
Republicrats,
meateaters and cops. Institutionalized racism. Homophobia,
biphobia and transphobia. The patriarchy. Fascism. White
people who don't understand white-skin privilege and think
that racism no longer exists. Capitalism, war and the prison
industrial complex. Telling me if I don't vote I have no
right to complain. Authoritarianism in any shape or form
unless its within the confines of safe and consensual bdsm
play. |

Piercings and
Tattoos. Would like to take hormones and get electrolysis.
And maybe some branding. The Venus of Willendorf tattoo
on my right arm is not so much symbolizing fertility but
showing my love of big women. The black cat on the back
of my left calf is more than just a cute kitty, it's an
old IWW symbol. IWW stands for Industrial Workers of the
World, Which is a decentralized worker-controlled anarchist
syndicalist union famous for "wildcat strikes"
and worker sabotage. I designed the back triangle with the
circle "A" on my right knee. Much like the pink
triangle which was designated for gay men, lesbians and
"antiscocial" women were forced to wear black
triangles in concentration camps during the holocaust. It
is a reclaimed symbol of pride. The circle "A"
stands for anarchism, which means more than just no government,
it means everyone has equal access to the decision making
process and that power is shared evenly. We all have control
over our own lives. |
| Where I'm
going |
If the christians
are right: hell. ha ha ha. Hopefully we're all heading towards
a free, liberated, compassionate society. Together. |
